Prof. Vinod Joshi is working currently as the Professor and Deputy Director of Amity Institute of Virology and Immunology, Amity University, Noida, UP. Professor Joshi was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, India on 22nd February 1956. As a graduate of Biology and postgraduate of Zoology specializing in sub-discipline Parasitology, Dr. Joshi has completed his Ph. D. on Epidemiology of Guinea worm disease in Rajasthan under the able guidance of late Professor Sylvester Johnson. In recognition of his contributions in research and control of Guinea worm disease from India, Professor Joshi was nominated as the Member, National Commission of Guinea-worm Eradication-Certification by the Government of India. Dr. Joshi has 37 years of research experience and his major contributions include first reporting of transovarial transmission of dengue viruses from India and the first report of the world on the persistence of transovarial transmission of the dengue-3 virus in 7 experimental generations of Aedes aegypti. Dr. Joshi has served at Desert Medicine Research Centre, Indian Council of Medical Research for 33 years and had taken voluntary retirement as Scientist-G & Head, Virology & Molecular Biology. Professor Joshi has published more than 50 papers in journals of national and international journals and has achieved remarkable citations of his publications. His one of the papers on dengue has been included as best publications in the 100 years of ICMR research. Research experience of Professor Vinod Joshi extends from Entomology and Virology to the hardcore Genomics of Dengue and H1N1 viruses.
